Jiang Qing
Jiang Qing was a Chinese actress and political figure, born on March 19, 1914. She is best known as the wife of Mao Zedong, the founding father of the People's Republic of China. Jiang played a significant role in the cultural and political landscape of China during the Cultural Revolution, promoting radical artistic and ideological changes.
As a member of the Gang of Four, Jiang Qing was influential in shaping cultural policies and was involved in the persecution of many intellectuals and artists. After Mao's death in 1976, she was arrested and later tried for her actions during the Cultural Revolution, ultimately receiving a death sentence that was commuted to life imprisonment.
