Jessie Misskelley Jr.
Jessie Misskelley Jr. is an American man known for his involvement in the West Memphis Three case, which gained national attention in the early 1990s. He was one of three teenagers accused of murdering three eight-year-old boys in West Memphis, Arkansas in 1993. Misskelley, who had a low IQ, confessed to the crime during police interrogations, but his confession was inconsistent and later recanted.
In 1994, Misskelley was convicted and sentenced to life in prison. Over the years, new evidence and public outcry led to a re-examination of the case, ultimately resulting in the release of Misskelley and his co-defendants in 2011 after they entered an Alford plea, maintaining their innocence while acknowledging that the evidence could lead to a conviction.
