Jelling Stones
The Jelling Stones are two large runestones located in Jelling, Denmark, dating back to the 10th century. They are significant historical artifacts that commemorate the reign of King Gorm the Old and his son, King Harald Bluetooth. The stones are inscribed with runes that celebrate the unification of Denmark and the introduction of Christianity.
The larger stone, known as the Jelling Stone, is often considered Denmark's national monument. It features a depiction of a cross, symbolizing the Christian faith, alongside inscriptions that highlight the achievements of the kings. Both stones are recognized as UNESCO World Heritage Sites, reflecting their cultural and historical importance.
