Jelling Stone
The Jelling Stone is a significant historical artifact located in Jelling, Denmark. It dates back to the 10th century and is often considered a symbol of the unification of Denmark. The stone features inscriptions in runes, which are ancient characters used by the Norse people, and it commemorates King Gorm the Old and his wife, Thyra.
The Jelling Stone is part of a larger complex that includes burial mounds and another stone, known as the Jelling II Stone. Both stones are recognized as UNESCO World Heritage Sites, highlighting their importance in Viking history and the early formation of the Danish state.
