Java Community Process
The Java Community Process (JCP) is a formalized mechanism for developing standard technical specifications for the Java platform. It allows various stakeholders, including developers, companies, and organizations, to collaborate on the evolution of Java technologies. Through the JCP, new features and enhancements can be proposed, reviewed, and approved, ensuring that the platform remains relevant and robust.
Established in 1998, the JCP operates through a series of Java Specification Requests (JSRs), which outline new features or changes. Participants in the JCP include Sun Microsystems (now part of Oracle), industry experts, and community members, all working together to shape the future of Java.
