Japanese swords
Japanese swords, known as nihonto, are traditional weapons crafted using a unique forging process. They are characterized by their curved, single-edged blade, a distinctive tang, and a handle that allows for a firm grip. The most famous types include the katana, wakizashi, and tanto, each serving different purposes in Japanese culture and history.
The making of a nihonto is an art form, involving skilled artisans called tosho. These craftsmen use high-quality steel, often folding it multiple times to create a strong and resilient blade. The swords are not only functional weapons but also treasured as symbols of honor and craftsmanship in samurai culture.
