Japanese Religion
Japanese religion is a unique blend of various beliefs and practices, primarily influenced by Shinto and Buddhism. Shinto, the indigenous faith, focuses on the worship of kami, or spirits, found in nature, ancestors, and sacred places. It emphasizes rituals and festivals that celebrate these spirits and maintain harmony with the natural world.
Buddhism was introduced to Japan in the 6th century and has since coexisted with Shinto. It offers teachings on suffering, enlightenment, and the afterlife. Many Japanese people practice both religions, participating in Shinto rituals for life events and Buddhist ceremonies for funerals, reflecting a harmonious integration of beliefs.
