Japanese American Citizens League
The Japanese American Citizens League (JACL) is a civil rights organization founded in 1929 to advocate for the rights and interests of Japanese Americans. It was established in response to discrimination and prejudice faced by this community, particularly during and after World War II when many Japanese Americans were forcibly relocated to internment camps.
The JACL works to promote social justice, civil rights, and cultural understanding. It engages in advocacy, education, and community service, addressing issues such as immigration, racial equality, and historical recognition. The organization also plays a role in preserving the history and contributions of Japanese Americans in the United States.
