James Squire
James Squire was an Englishman who became the first brewer in Australia, arriving in the country in 1788. He is best known for founding the Malting Company of New South Wales and creating the first commercial beer in Australia, known as Squire's Ale. His contributions to the brewing industry laid the foundation for Australia's vibrant beer culture.
Today, James Squire is also a popular brand of craft beer, produced by Lion Brewery. The brand honors Squire's legacy by offering a range of beers inspired by his original recipes, including the well-known James Squire 150 Lashes Pale Ale.
