James Randi Educational Foundation
The James Randi Educational Foundation (JREF) was established in 1996 by magician and skeptic James Randi. Its primary mission is to promote critical thinking and scientific skepticism, particularly regarding paranormal claims and pseudoscience. The foundation provides resources, educational programs, and public outreach to encourage people to question extraordinary claims and seek evidence-based explanations.
One of the foundation's notable initiatives was the One Million Dollar Paranormal Challenge, which offered a cash prize to anyone who could demonstrate a supernatural ability under controlled conditions. Although the challenge was officially retired in 2015, the JREF continues to advocate for rational inquiry and the importance of scientific literacy in society.
