James Hamilton, 2nd Earl of Arran
James Hamilton, 2nd Earl of Arran (c. 1516–1575), was a Scottish nobleman and a prominent figure during the turbulent times of the {Scottish Reformation}. He was the son of {James Hamilton, 1st Earl of Arran} and became the heir to the family title. Arran played a significant role in Scottish politics, particularly as a supporter of the {Protestant Reformation}.
In 1542, he was appointed as the {Regent} for the young King {James V of Scotland}'s daughter, {Mary, Queen of Scots}. His tenure was marked by political instability and conflict, as he struggled to maintain power amidst rival factions. Arran's influence waned over time, and he eventually retired from public life.
