James Brudenell
James Brudenell, the 7th Earl of Cardigan, was a British Army officer born on March 16, 1797. He is best known for his role in the Crimean War, particularly for leading the Charge of the Light Brigade at the Battle of Balaclava in 1854. This charge became infamous for its bravery and tragic outcome, highlighting the miscommunications in military command.
Brudenell's military career began in the early 19th century, and he served in various campaigns before the Crimean War. Despite his controversial leadership during the charge, he was later promoted and continued to serve in the army until his retirement. He passed away on March 28, 1868.
