Charge of the Light Brigade
The "Charge of the Light Brigade" was a military action during the Battle of Balaclava in the Crimean War on October 25, 1854. It involved British cavalry units, specifically the Light Brigade, charging against Russian artillery. The charge was a result of a miscommunication and ended in heavy casualties for the British forces.
Despite their bravery, the Light Brigade faced overwhelming firepower and suffered significant losses, with around 600 men involved. The event became famous for its display of valor and the tragic consequences of military orders, later immortalized in the poem by Alfred Lord Tennyson.
