Jalal Talabani
Jalal Talabani was an Iraqi politician and a prominent Kurdish leader, born on November 12, 1933. He co-founded the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) in 1975, which aimed to promote Kurdish rights and autonomy within Iraq. Talabani played a significant role in the Iraqi political landscape, especially after the fall of Saddam Hussein in 2003.
He served as the President of Iraq from 2005 to 2014, becoming the first Kurdish individual to hold this position. Talabani was known for his efforts to foster unity among Iraq's diverse ethnic and religious groups, advocating for a democratic and federal Iraq. He passed away on October 3, 2022.
