Jadwiga
Jadwiga was a notable historical figure who served as the Queen of Poland from 1384 until her death in 1399. She was born in 1373 and was the daughter of Louis I of Anjou, the King of Hungary and Poland. Jadwiga was crowned as a king, which was unusual for a woman at that time, and she played a significant role in the political landscape of medieval Poland.
Jadwiga is best known for her efforts to strengthen the Polish state and her marriage to Władysław II Jagiełło, the Grand Duke of Lithuania. This union led to the formation of a powerful alliance between Poland and Lithuania, which had lasting effects on the region. She is also remembered for her charitable works and support of education, particularly the founding of the University of Kraków.
