Jacob Leisler
Jacob Leisler was a German-born colonial administrator who played a significant role in the early history of New York. He is best known for leading the Leisler's Rebellion from 1689 to 1691, a revolt against the colonial government established after the Glorious Revolution in England. Leisler seized control of the fort in New York City and governed the colony for a brief period.
Leisler's rule was marked by conflict between different factions, including the English elite and the Dutch settlers. His leadership ended when he was arrested and executed in 1691, leading to a lasting impact on colonial politics and tensions in New York.
