Istrian History
Istria is a peninsula located in the northern Adriatic Sea, historically influenced by various cultures and empires. It was part of the Roman Empire, where it thrived economically and culturally. After the fall of Rome, Istria came under the control of the Byzantine Empire, followed by the Frankish Empire and later the Venetian Republic, which shaped its architecture and trade.
In the 19th century, Istria became part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. After World War I, it was annexed by Italy, and post-World War II, it became part of Yugoslavia. Today, Istria is a region of Croatia, known for its diverse heritage and beautiful landscapes.
