Islamic orthodoxy
Islamic orthodoxy refers to the accepted beliefs and practices within the Islam faith, primarily based on the teachings of the Qur'an and the Hadith, which are records of the sayings and actions of the Prophet Muhammad. It emphasizes the importance of following the Five Pillars of Islam, which include faith, prayer, charity, fasting, and pilgrimage.
Orthodox Islam is often associated with the major Sunni and Shia branches, each having its own interpretations and traditions. Sunni Islam, which constitutes the majority, adheres to the consensus of the community, while Shia Islam places emphasis on the leadership of the Imams. Both branches share core beliefs but differ in certain theological and historical aspects.
