Islamic dietary laws
Islamic dietary laws, known as halal, dictate what foods are permissible for Muslims to consume. These laws are derived from the Quran and the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad. Foods that are considered halal must meet specific criteria, including the method of animal slaughter and the absence of prohibited ingredients.
Conversely, foods that are forbidden are termed haram. This includes pork and its by-products, as well as alcohol. Additionally, any food that is not prepared according to halal guidelines is also considered haram. Observing these dietary laws is an important aspect of practicing the Islamic faith.
