Ischemic Colitis
Ischemic Colitis is a condition that occurs when blood flow to the colon is reduced, leading to inflammation and injury. This reduced blood supply can be caused by various factors, including narrowed blood vessels, low blood pressure, or blood clots. Symptoms often include abdominal pain, diarrhea, and rectal bleeding.
Diagnosis typically involves imaging tests, such as a CT scan, and sometimes a colonoscopy to assess the extent of the damage. Treatment may include supportive care, such as hydration and dietary changes, and in severe cases, surgery may be necessary to remove affected sections of the colon.
