Irumudi
Irumudi is a traditional ritual in the Indian state of Kerala, particularly associated with the famous Sabarimala temple. It involves devotees carrying a special bundle, known as the Irumudi Kettu, which contains offerings and personal items for the deity Ayyappa. The bundle is typically carried on the head during the pilgrimage, symbolizing devotion and sacrifice.
The Irumudi consists of two compartments: one for offerings like ghee and the other for personal belongings. Devotees prepare for the journey by observing strict rituals, including fasting and abstaining from certain activities. This practice reflects deep spiritual significance and commitment to the pilgrimage.
