Iowa-Class Battleship
The Iowa-Class Battleship is a class of fast battleships built for the United States Navy during World War II. They were designed for speed and firepower, featuring a displacement of about 45,000 tons and a top speed of 33 knots. The class includes four ships: USS Iowa, USS New Jersey, USS Missouri, and USS Wisconsin. Each ship is armed with nine 16-inch guns and numerous smaller weapons for anti-aircraft defense.
These battleships played significant roles in various naval operations during the war and continued to serve in the Cold War. The Iowa-Class is notable for its advanced radar and fire control systems, which enhanced their combat effectiveness. They were decommissioned in the 1990s but remain iconic symbols of naval power.
