Ionic Temples
Ionic temples are a style of ancient Greek architecture characterized by their elegant and slender columns. These columns typically have a distinctive scroll-like design at the top, known as volutes. Ionic temples often feature a raised platform and a symmetrical layout, emphasizing harmony and proportion.
The most famous example of an Ionic temple is the Erechtheion on the Acropolis of Athens. Built in the 5th century BCE, it showcases the unique features of Ionic design, including its ornate friezes and the use of caryatids, which are sculpted female figures that serve as columns.
