Ionian League
The Ionian League was an ancient confederation of Greek city-states located along the western coast of Asia Minor, primarily in the region known as Ionia. Established in the 6th century BCE, it aimed to promote mutual defense and cooperation among its members, which included cities like Ephesus, Miletus, and Smyrna.
The league played a significant role during the Persian Wars, as its members united against external threats. Although it eventually lost influence due to the rise of larger powers, the Ionian League is notable for its contributions to the development of Greek political organization and culture.
