Intrinsic motives
Intrinsic motives refer to the internal drives that inspire individuals to engage in activities for their own sake, rather than for external rewards. These motives are often linked to personal satisfaction, curiosity, or a sense of accomplishment. For example, a person might read a book simply because they enjoy the story, rather than to gain a grade or recognition.
In contrast to extrinsic motives, which are influenced by external factors like rewards or social approval, intrinsic motives foster a deeper connection to the activity. This can lead to greater creativity and persistence, as individuals are more likely to pursue tasks that resonate with their interests and values, such as art, music, or sports.
