International Lenin Prize
The International Lenin Prize for Strengthening Peace Among Peoples was established in 1949 by the Soviet Union. It aimed to honor individuals and organizations that contributed to peace, friendship, and cooperation among nations. The prize was awarded annually until 1992, recognizing efforts in various fields, including literature, science, and humanitarian work.
Recipients of the prize included notable figures such as Pablo Picasso and Albert Schweitzer. The award was part of the broader Soviet initiative to promote its ideology and foster international solidarity, particularly during the Cold War era. After the dissolution of the Soviet Union, the prize was discontinued.
