International Agency for Research on Cancer
The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) is a specialized agency of the World Health Organization (WHO) focused on cancer research. Established in 1965 and based in Lyon, France, IARC aims to promote international collaboration in cancer research and provide scientific information on cancer prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.
IARC conducts studies to identify cancer causes and risk factors, and it publishes the GLOBOCAN database, which provides global cancer statistics. The agency also evaluates the carcinogenicity of various substances through its Monographs Programme, helping to inform public health policies and cancer control strategies worldwide.
