Internal Iliac Vein
The Internal Iliac Vein is a major blood vessel located in the pelvis. It is responsible for draining deoxygenated blood from the pelvic organs, including the bladder, rectum, and reproductive organs. This vein runs alongside the Internal Iliac Artery, which supplies blood to the same regions.
After collecting blood from the pelvis, the Internal Iliac Vein merges with the External Iliac Vein to form the Common Iliac Vein. This larger vein then transports the blood back to the heart via the Inferior Vena Cava. Proper functioning of the Internal Iliac Vein is essential for maintaining healthy blood circulation in the pelvic area.
