Inter-American Commission on Human Rights
The Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) is an autonomous organ of the Organization of American States (OAS) established in 1959. Its primary role is to promote and protect human rights across the Americas by monitoring compliance with the American Convention on Human Rights and other regional human rights instruments.
The IACHR investigates complaints of human rights violations, conducts on-site visits, and issues reports and recommendations. It also provides technical assistance and training to member states to enhance their human rights practices. The Commission plays a crucial role in advocating for the rights of individuals and communities throughout the region.
