Insect Anatomy
Insect anatomy consists of three main body parts: the head, thorax, and abdomen. The head houses sensory organs like antennae and compound eyes, as well as the mouthparts used for feeding. The thorax is responsible for movement, containing three pairs of legs and, in many insects, two pairs of wings.
The abdomen contains vital organs for digestion and reproduction. Insects have an exoskeleton made of chitin, which provides protection and support. They breathe through small openings called spiracles that lead to a network of tubes known as tracheae, allowing for efficient gas exchange.
