Innocence Project
The Innocence Project is a nonprofit organization dedicated to exonerating wrongfully convicted individuals through DNA testing and other means. Founded in 1992 by lawyers Barry Scheck and Peter Neufeld, it aims to address the flaws in the criminal justice system that can lead to wrongful convictions. The organization also works to reform laws and policies to prevent future injustices.
In addition to its legal work, the Innocence Project provides education and resources about wrongful convictions and the importance of accurate forensic science. It collaborates with various organizations, including law schools and advocacy groups, to promote awareness and support for those who have been wrongfully imprisoned.
