Inguinal Lymph Nodes
Inguinal lymph nodes are small, bean-shaped structures located in the groin area. They are part of the lymphatic system, which helps the body fight infections and diseases. These nodes filter lymph fluid, trapping harmful substances like bacteria and viruses, and contain immune cells that respond to infections.
There are superficial and deep inguinal lymph nodes. The superficial nodes are just beneath the skin, while the deep nodes are located deeper within the tissue. Swelling in these nodes can indicate an infection or other medical conditions, making them important for diagnosing health issues in the lower body.
