Infield Positions
In baseball, the infield positions are crucial for defense and include the pitcher, catcher, first baseman, second baseman, shortstop, and third baseman. Each player has specific responsibilities, such as fielding ground balls, turning double plays, and covering bases. The infield is located within the diamond-shaped area of the field, where most plays occur.
The pitcher throws the ball to the catcher, who is positioned behind home plate. The first baseman guards first base, while the second baseman and shortstop cover the middle infield. The third baseman protects third base, making quick plays on bunts and line drives. Together, these players work to prevent runs and secure outs.
