Inferior Sagittal Sinus
The Inferior Sagittal Sinus is a venous channel located within the brain. It runs along the midline of the brain's falx cerebri, which is a fold of the dura mater. This sinus collects blood from the deeper structures of the brain and drains it into the straight sinus.
The primary function of the inferior sagittal sinus is to facilitate the drainage of venous blood. It receives blood from various small veins and ultimately contributes to the overall venous drainage system of the brain, ensuring that deoxygenated blood is efficiently returned to the heart.
