Inferior Oblique Muscle
The Inferior Oblique Muscle is one of the extraocular muscles responsible for eye movement. It originates from the maxillary bone and inserts into the outer surface of the sclera, the white part of the eye. This muscle primarily helps in elevating the eye while also allowing for lateral rotation and abduction.
When the Inferior Oblique Muscle contracts, it works to move the eye upward and outward. It plays a crucial role in coordinating eye movements, especially when looking up at objects. Proper functioning of this muscle is essential for maintaining binocular vision and depth perception.
