Infante Henry
Infante Henry, also known as Henry the Navigator, was a Portuguese royal born in 1394. He was the third son of King John I of Portugal and Philippa of Lancaster. Henry played a crucial role in the early days of the Age of Discoveries, promoting maritime exploration along the west coast of Africa. His efforts helped establish trade routes and expand knowledge of the Atlantic Ocean.
Henry never became king but was instrumental in founding a school for navigation in Sagres, Portugal. This institution attracted many explorers and cartographers, leading to significant advancements in navigation techniques and shipbuilding during the 15th century.
