Industrial Revolutions
The term "Industrial Revolutions" refers to significant periods of change in manufacturing and production processes. The first, occurring in the late 18th to early 19th centuries, introduced machines like the steam engine and mechanized textile production, transforming economies from agriculture-based to industrial. This shift led to urbanization and changes in labor practices.
Subsequent revolutions, including the second in the late 19th century with electricity and assembly lines, and the third in the late 20th century with computers and automation, further advanced technology and efficiency. Today, the fourth revolution, often called Industry 4.0, focuses on smart technology and the Internet of Things, reshaping industries globally.
