Indigenous Languages of Peru
Peru is home to a rich diversity of Indigenous languages, with over 47 distinct languages spoken across the country. The most widely spoken Indigenous languages include Quechua, Aymara, and Ashaninka. These languages reflect the cultural heritage and identity of various Indigenous communities, each with its own unique linguistic features.
The Peruvian government recognizes the importance of preserving these languages and has implemented policies to promote bilingual education. Efforts are underway to document and revitalize endangered languages, ensuring that future generations can maintain their linguistic and cultural traditions.
