Indian caste system
The Indian caste system is a social hierarchy that has existed in India for centuries. It divides people into different groups based on their occupation and social status. Traditionally, there are four main categories, known as varnas: Brahmins (priests and scholars), Kshatriyas (warriors and rulers), Vaishyas (traders and agriculturists), and Shudras (laborers and service providers).
Over time, this system became more complex, leading to the emergence of numerous sub-castes, or jatis. While the caste system has been officially abolished in India, its influence persists in various aspects of society, including marriage, politics, and social interactions.
