Indian President
The Indian President is the ceremonial head of state of India and serves as the highest constitutional authority in the country. Elected by an electoral college, the President's role is largely symbolic, representing the unity and integrity of the nation. The President's duties include appointing the Prime Minister, approving laws, and serving as the commander-in-chief of the armed forces.
The President's office is located in the Rashtrapati Bhavan, a grand building in New Delhi. The President also plays a key role in the legislative process, summoning and proroguing Parliament sessions, and giving assent to bills. While the President has certain powers, most executive functions are carried out by the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers.
