"Inanna's Descent" is an ancient Sumerian myth that tells the story of the goddess Inanna as she travels to the underworld, ruled by her sister Ereshkigal. Inanna seeks to gain power and knowledge but must pass through seven gates, where she is stripped of her royal garments and symbols of authority at each gate.
Upon reaching the underworld, Ereshkigal punishes Inanna, leading to her death. The other gods intervene, and Inanna is eventually resurrected, symbolizing themes of death, rebirth, and the balance of power between the divine and the mortal realms.
