In-Group/Out-Group
The concept of "In-Group/Out-Group" refers to the social categorization of individuals into groups based on shared characteristics, interests, or identities. The In-Group consists of those who share similar traits, leading to feelings of belonging and loyalty. Members often support each other and view their group positively.
In contrast, the Out-Group includes those who do not belong to the In-Group. This can lead to stereotypes, prejudice, or discrimination against the Out-Group. Understanding these dynamics helps explain social behavior, group identity, and intergroup relations in various contexts, such as society, workplaces, and communities.
