Imperial Eggs
Imperial Eggs are a series of luxurious, jeweled eggs created by the Russian jeweler Peter Carl Fabergé in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Commissioned by Tsar Alexander III for his wife, Empress Maria Feodorovna, these exquisite pieces were designed as Easter gifts. Each egg features intricate craftsmanship, often containing hidden surprises inside.
The most famous of the Imperial Eggs is the Imperial Coronation Egg, made in 1897, which includes a miniature of the Imperial Crown and a surprise that opens to reveal a golden hen. A total of 50 eggs were made, with many now housed in museums and private collections.
