Ilan Ramon
Ilan Ramon was an Israeli astronaut and the first Israeli to travel to space. He flew aboard the Space Shuttle Columbia during the STS-107 mission in January 2003. Ramon was a fighter pilot in the Israeli Air Force and served in various capacities, including as a squadron commander. His journey to space was a significant achievement for Israel and inspired many.
Tragically, the Columbia disintegrated upon re-entry into Earth's atmosphere on February 1, 2003, resulting in the loss of all seven crew members, including Ramon. He is remembered for his contributions to science and his dedication to his country.
