Ijen volcano complex
The Ijen volcano complex is located in East Java, Indonesia. It consists of several craters, with the most famous being the Ijen Crater, known for its stunning turquoise acid lake. The complex is part of the Banyuwangi regency and is an active volcanic area, with eruptions recorded throughout history.
One of the unique features of the Ijen volcano is the presence of sulfur deposits. Miners extract sulfur from the crater, often working in challenging conditions. The volcano is also known for its blue flames, which occur when sulfur gases ignite, creating a striking visual spectacle at night.
