Idiopathic Short Stature
Idiopathic Short Stature (ISS) refers to a condition where a child is significantly shorter than their peers, but no specific medical cause can be identified. This means that standard tests and evaluations do not reveal any underlying health issues, hormonal imbalances, or genetic disorders that could explain the child's height.
Children with ISS typically have normal growth patterns and health, but their height falls below the third percentile for their age and sex. While ISS is not a disease, it can lead to emotional and social challenges for affected children, as they may feel different from their classmates.
