Iceberg A68
Iceberg A68 is one of the largest icebergs ever recorded, breaking off from the Antarctic Peninsula in July 2017. It measures approximately 5,800 square kilometers, roughly the size of Delaware. The iceberg originated from the Larsen C Ice Shelf, which has been closely monitored due to climate change impacts.
Since its calving, A68 has drifted northward into warmer waters, raising concerns about its potential effects on sea levels and marine ecosystems. As it breaks apart, scientists study the iceberg to understand its behavior and the implications for the surrounding environment and global climate patterns.
