Iban People
The Iban people are an indigenous ethnic group primarily found in Malaysia and Indonesia, particularly in the regions of Sarawak on the island of Borneo. They are known for their rich cultural heritage, including traditional music, dance, and intricate weaving. The Iban are also recognized for their historical role as headhunters, a practice that has largely ceased in modern times.
Traditionally, the Iban people live in longhouses, which are communal dwellings that house multiple families. Their economy is based on agriculture, hunting, and fishing, with rice being a staple crop. The Iban maintain strong community ties and celebrate various festivals that reflect their beliefs and customs.
