Iao Needle
The Iao Needle is a natural rock formation located in Iao Valley State Park on the island of Maui, Hawaii. Rising about 1,200 feet (366 meters) above the valley floor, it is a prominent landmark known for its unique shape and lush surroundings. The needle is composed of volcanic rock and is surrounded by steep cliffs and dense vegetation.
The area around the Iao Needle is rich in history and cultural significance. It was the site of the Battle of Kepaniwai in 1790, where forces led by King Kamehameha I fought against the Maui chiefs.
