IP Ratings
IP Ratings, or Ingress Protection Ratings, are a system used to classify the degree of protection provided by electrical enclosures against solid objects and liquids. The rating consists of two digits: the first digit indicates protection against solid particles, ranging from 0 (no protection) to 6 (dust-tight), while the second digit indicates protection against water, ranging from 0 (no protection) to 9K (high-pressure water jets).
For example, an IP67 rating means the device is completely dust-tight and can withstand immersion in water up to 1 meter for 30 minutes. These ratings help consumers choose products, such as smartphones or outdoor equipment, based on their environmental durability.
